Fábio Fernandes completed his PhD in Chemistry at the IST in 2007. From 2007-2010 he worked as a postdoc with Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher in the Membrane Biophysics group at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen (Germany). After this he worked as a Senior Postdoc at the Centro de Química Física Molecular and Institute of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies in Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). In 2016, he joined the Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences (UCIBIO@REQUIMTE) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa as an Auxiliary Researcher, and on 2017 he was awarded a Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) Researcher Grant to work at IST. Since 2019, Fábio Fernandes is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Bioengineering in IST. He is also a member of the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (IBB) Research Unit and of the Institute of Health and Bioeconomy (i4HB).
